Role description

Role: Business Development Manager
Therapy Area: Opthalmology
Package: Negotiable basic salary up to 40,000, car, pension scheme, private health, sales force bonus and incentives
Territory: South East Midlands (LE, NN, CV and WR postcodes). Candidates must be located on the territory.

Role Type: Sales Representative, Medical Representative, covering Primary Care GPs and Nurses

The client is a pharmaceutical company with an extensive product range within the Ophthalmology market. As a Business Development Manager you will have responsibility and accountability for the delivery of agreed sales objectives and resultant sales growth within a defined geographical territory. In order to achieve this you will deliver targeted sales promotion to GPs and Nurses across a portfolio of ophthalmology products.

Ideal candidates will be experienced pharmaceutical representatives, with a proven track record and the ability to demonstrate sales success. This key role requires excellent business planning, key account management, organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.

Role responsibilities:
Improving GP and nurse knowledge of product portfolio and disease area
Working strategically with the Regional Account Team, including Hospital Account Managers and Healthcare Development Manager to highlight and educate GP's and nurses about favourable pathways and protocols.
Gaining access to GP's, nurses and influencers in the practices on this territory.
Increasing market share in each area in line with company objectives.
Achievement of sales targets and other key objectives
Development and updating of monthly key account plans outlining tactical actions.
Completion of company CRM system to ensure accurate capture of customer information
Ability to work with other company divisions towards a common purpose.
To consistently demonstrate energy and willingness to meet and exceed company and personal achievements.
To demonstrate an ability to overcome obstacles threatening to reduce sales growth on a territory
To consistently demonstrate the ability to prioritise time, money and resources around identified key CCGs and GP practices.
To demonstrate high levels of planning and with other key internal stakeholders produce and implement key account plans.
To consistently demonstrate the ability to understand customer needs and requirements at an individual and organisational level.
To agree a common purpose and to take responsibility for your part of any implementation plan.
To be open and honest and always place the team goal ahead of personal objectives


Degree (preferable - but not essential)

Person experience required

Essential Requirements: 1+ years Pharmaceutical industry and primary care experience is essential. Proven top performer in the area of primary care sales. Previous experience on this territory favourable Good understanding of the NHS. The ideal candidate will bring with them a strong network of HCP's on this territory and will be motivated about working in a fast paced growing healthcare company. A positive approach with enthusiasm and tenacity, with a strong work ethic and motivated by challenging goals. A team player who can also work with autonomy and use their own initiative.
