The Laboratory IT Specialist will work across multiple sites to provide IT support to laboratory staff and for laboratory instrumentation, ensuring that systems are fully documented and that applications are installed and maintained in a secure and validated environment. Ensuring that analytical data is adequately backed up and archived.
Responsibilities:
Work with laboratory staff to document laboratory software systems (including OS, patch status, instrument application software) and interfaces
Work with corporate IT to ensure that laboratory workstations, including those attached to laboratory instruments are adequately protected from malware
Work with corporate IT, instrument manufacturers and laboratory staff to ensure that laboratory systems and applications are kept patched and up to date, whilst maintaining compliance with validation requirements
Support and, if necessary, implement measures to maintain data integrity across systems




Qualifications

BSc in computer science, engineering or a related field is preferred and/relevant work experience Current driving license preferred

Person experience required

Experience in desktop support, preferably within a laboratory environment Knowledge of system maintenance and software validation requirements and procedures for laboratory instrumentation e.g. LC-MS, Immunoassay platforms, software, hardware and instrument qualification Ability to travel between sites Competencies: Ability to work independently or as part of a multidisciplinary team Demonstrate logical thinking and an ability to manage multiple activities / priorities Strong troubleshooting/problem solving skills Demonstrable experience in desktop support, including label printing and barcode scanning Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence others
